Preschool to Grade 5
Half-Day Preschool Program
3 and 4 years old by the first day of school
Touchstone’s Preschool is a half-day program for 3-and 4-year olds, five days per week from September through June. It is a high-quality learning program in which students learn number sense, literacy, music, French, science, art, and movement in a play-based, hands-on environment. Touchstone’s philosophy is that children learn best when given the opportunity to actively construct their own knowledge through meaningful experiences and hands-on investigations. We incorporate the Core Knowledge Sequence in the classroom, and blend it with the values of the New Brunswick Curriculum Framework for Early Learning. Our curriculum is enriched with regular field trips to historical, cultural, and scientific sites, as well as in-class guests. Touchstone’s Preschool Program has a maximum of 17 children, with two qualified teachers at all times.

The daily schedule is very flexible, allowing for student interests to be pursued longer (or shorter) if necessary. The classroom is set-up in such a way that the environment becomes a third teacher. Teachers supervise free play, but also guide students in games and small group activities that meet students where they are at in their learning and current interests. Developing early literacy skills is an important component of Touchstone's preschool philosophy and is, therefore, integrated in every subject throughout the morning.

Full Day Junior Kindergarten Program
4 years old by the first day of school or
5 years old before December 31st of the year of enrolment
Touchstone’s Junior Kindergarten is a full-day program for 4-and 5-year olds*, five days per week from September through June. It is a high-quality learning program in which students learn mathematics, literacy, music, French, science, art, physical education, and social skills in a play-based, hands-on educational environment. Touchstone’s philosophy is that children learn best when given the opportunity to actively construct their own knowledge through meaningful experiences and hands-on investigations. We incorporate the Core Knowledge Preschool Curriculum Level II designed for 4 & 5 year olds. Our curriculum is enriched with regular field trips to historical, cultural, and scientific sites, as well as in-class guests. Touchstone’s Junior Kindergarten program has a maximum of 12 children, with one qualified teacher along with a French specialist and music specialist.
*note: Children who turn 5 years old before the start of school will be considered for Touchstone’s Senior Kindergarten, while those who turn 5 before December 31st of the school year will have the choice of Junior or Senior Kindergarten.

Full Day Senior Kindergarten Program to Grade 5
Children may enter Touchstone’s Senior Kindergarten Program when they are 5 years old or turn 5 years old by December 31st in their year of enrolment.
